In which I am on vacation

Let's see: the last weeks of term were jam-packed with fun, my last essay and class went well, Shayna came to visit again which was great, I got to watch more rowing, I went as a peacock to the "P" bop, the sun continues to make occasional appearances...

I moved out of Keble last Saturday which meant lugging all the stuff I hadn't put in storage on Friday over to Sophie's. We then scurried to the train station and hopped on a train to go out to Somerset to visit her grandma. Her grandma picked us up at the station in Taunton and drove us to Halse, the tiny village where she lives. Sophie showed me around the house (a converted 15th century barn) and then we walked up to the precious village. We had dinner, read by the fire and were asleep by 11. We woke up to blue sky and sunshine so we took a "ramble" in the lanes and visited some llamas. We read in the garden, had lunch and then took a train back to Oxford. It was so nice to see a different part of England/beautiful English countryside, to meet Soph's grandma and to relax.

Though to be fair I haven't done much but relax since we've been back. I've spent the last few days cementing our travel plans and hotels, applying for internships, reading, watching TV and cooking. It has been blissful. I cannot express how nice it is to be able to cook and eat what I want, when I want it. And my kitchen skills are getting better by the meal. So far I have chopped and roasted garlic for the first time, successfully made seasoned chicken and tried three new recipes. The cooking world is my oyster!

I neglected to mention one part of our vacation days which has been the Definitive Oxford Pub Crawl, aka the Our Parents Couldn't Be Prouder Pub Crawl. Soph and I both bought these posters - http://www.oxfordpubposter.co.uk/about/ - and are determined to color them all in. So far we've gone to at least one a night so we're making excellent progress.
