Sorry for the silence on the blog front - I've been busy? Or maybe there's just been a lack of charming anecdotes in my life?
Things have really solidified socially, I must say. I was a little worried about what I would do without Elena but it's been fine. I'm loving spending more time than before with Keble people who make me laugh harder than I thought possible. Of course, it's always nice to have the American boys to occasionally check in with, and even nicer to have Soph around (speaking of people who make me laugh hysterically).
I had a half hour voice lesson yesterday which was subsidized for choir members yay. The teacher was absolutely lovely and it was so nice to be able to focus on my technique again instead of sightreading my butt off as I usually have to do during the services. I am definitely missing learning arias and musical theater songs, but she suggested a great Bach aria I had never come across which I am going to keep in mind.
Last week, Jarrai took me to Gourmet Burger Kitchen as we have been planning to since October. Once she heard of my love for garlic mayonnaise, she told me I had to go because theirs was incredible. She was not lying - it was amazing garlic mayonnaise and the best burger I've ever had in my life. Bacon, avocado, sweet relish...ooooh man I thought about it for 24 hours afterwards. I took Soph tonight to convert her and it was still good. And my mouth is still garlicky.
I had coffee today with Becky Fischer which was sooo nice and also so Twilight Zone-y to meet up with her outside the Rad Cam. I really do enjoy meeting up with people from home or school because they know you in such a different way than people here. And I love little more than comparing notes about studying abroad, let's be honest. In the same vein, I am headed to London tomorrow to spend the night with Zoe Rudman and to see Liz and Grace for the first time in MONTHS. To say I'm excited would be an understatement. It's like I get to have a little mini vacation with people I like a whole lot and I won't have to read a book the whole time! Obviously I have had to work hard this week and will have to do more when I get back to make up for it, but whatever.
Weekly academic annoyance: when authors list the dates of Empire events with the Napoleonic date. I don't have that stupid calendar memorized! It didn't even last that long! It like wasn't even real! Stop being pretentious! Use the normal months!
I am getting very sleepy so I'm going to end here. Better entry coming soon!
